Electronic Portfolios

I attended a presentation by Dr Helen Barrett about electronic portfolios at Ultralab South yesterday. Her definition of an electornic portfolio as "a dynamic celebration of learning across the life span" excited me as I can see the relevance of this for me and for my students. The framework for creation of these portfolios and her discussion of the different software tools that can be used was very useful and I plan to create my own portfolio and encourage my students to make their own.
The day before attending this presentation I had downloaded Multimedia Builder to experiment with for my classes next year. The students will be building a multimedia product to solve a problem for Unit Standard 5936. I think that making my own electronic portfolio will be an excellent way of getting a feel for the software - thanks Tim for the suggestion.
